... adore this guy on TV BUT I did not like this book at all

This is tough for me because I adore this guy on TV BUT I did not like this book at all. 1) I blame myself for not reading the title, it really is shallow 2) He hints on his show that there are insights into the celebrities that he interviews but the book is filled with abbreviations he uses for names that I guess I was supposed to recognize, innuendos about the Bravo stars that I was suppose to decipher and a lack of any interesting backstage stories other than the one about Barbara Walters.
Andy is gay, lonely and interested in recreational and tongue in cheek humor , albeit somewhat less than high brow television. I can relate. I am not gay but I am lonely and get a kick out of his Bravo shows. However, now that I have read the book and realize that I am following the career of a guy who thinks I have nothing better to do than read abbreviations, innuendos and a detailed description of his dogs "pooping" schedule, I realize he has no respect for me as a fan and I wish I had not read the book.

Not what I expected

The book claims to have lots of behind the scenes dirt about the housewives, but the juicy stuff had no names. I'm not really interested if there are no names. Beyond stories with no names, it's a lot of talk about walking his dog ( tracking the poos), dinners and trips with friends, and his weight. I liked his first book, but this was a miss for me.

a shallow book equals a shallow read

I liked Most Talkative, this one not so much. It gives great insight into Andy's everyday life as a television host and executive. He works and parties, not much else to his life, it kind of made me sad for him. He lives a full life running from party to party, but it's clear that he lacks companionship. I hope he finds it in the form of a husband. I was not really interested in reading about him meeting celebrities, or his ridiculous obsession with loosing weight, it was boring. I wanted more behind the scenes info about his dealings with the housewives, he gave some but it was limited--I guess he didn't want to piss too many of them off. At the end of the day if you would be interested in watching a reality show staring Andy, then you will likely find this book interesting, because that is exactly what this book is only its in print. He wakes up takes his dog on a walk, then he has breakfast out with a friend, goes to the gym, has lunch with a friend. He goes to work, does his show, dishes on what the celebs don't want him to ask them, then he goes out to dinner or a party, comes home at 2am, walks the dog and goes to bed. Literally this happens almost every day for a year, with the exception of when he takes a vacation, then he parties, hangs out with SJP, KR, JF, & AC in any number of places around the globe. In the mist of all the partying he name drops big time, he says so in the foreword and he's not joking. I feel like this book was a throw away, something he had to do because he signed a multiple book deal, he didn't want to do it, but he had to sort of thing, and it shows. He said he modeled it off of the Andy Warhol Diaries. I think it's the concept he probably pitched to the publisher in order to get the book deal, but it was something he didn't have the time or the desire to flush out completely. If I were going to pick between his two books, I'd go with Most Talkative, he put the time and effort into that one, and it's much more sincere.

Drawing on new sources to provide the most comprehensive portrait of the men and women lynched in the American South, Amy Bailey and Stewart Tolnay's revealing profiles and careful analysis begin to restore the identities of--and lend dignity to--hundreds of lynching victims about whom we have known little more than their names and alleged offenses.

Comparing victims' characteristics to those of African American men who were not lynched, Bailey and Tolnay identify the factors that made them more vulnerable to being targeted by mobs, including how old they were; what work they did; their marital status, place of birth, and literacy; and whether they lived in the margins of their communities or possessed higher social status. I would not recommend it for the casual reader

This is an excellently conceived and documented book on the practices of lynching. I would not recommend it for the casual reader, however, because it is full of statistics, charts, diagrams and other research methodological approaches. It is appropriate to a classroom study on the history of racism and American style terrorism practiced on African Americans. If you are interested in the historical development of police practices in the South and even in states such as Missouri you can learn how the entire criminal justice system (ie sheriff departments, police, judges, juries and courts) operated against the best interests of local black populations.

For a textbook, this one was fantastic. Not only was it extremely informative (like every textbook should be), but the information was laid out in a way that was easy and enjoyable to comprehend. I kept this book around for a long time for all my Microsoft office needs until I found a great resource online.

Finally, I got a supervisor from amazon, that totally rocked. I had to reorder the book, and through this person, I got the book next day shipping. Fantastic WF+MOSS 2007 reference

I struggled with workflows, especially integreating the webified versions into MOSS 2007 Forms Server going back to the very early beta days. While I was able to get them to work, some concepts were hazy to me. David's book brought it all together with some fantastic examples. If you're new to WF, this first section will address the core concepts... no need to go out and get another workflow book. The three chapters on creating a custom activity, creating a sequential & statemachine workflow, and making it available over the web via Forms Server are fantastic.

Only reason I'm not giving it a 5 out of 5 is because the book is very conversational. A book of this type should be more reference, not "chatty."

Part I explores the software architecture and how to write, execute, and debug assembly language programs. It includes many practical concepts and software applications. In addition, the various steps of the assembly language program development cycle are explored.
Part II examines the hardware architecture of microcomputers built with the 8088 and 8086 microprocessors. It presents the function and operation of each of the microprocessors' hardware interfaces: memory, input/output, and interrupt. The role of each of these subsystems is explored in relation to overall microcomputer system operation.
Part III provides detailed coverage of the other microprocessors in the 80x86 family: the 80286, 80386, 80486, and Pentium' processors. The newest Pentium® family—Pentium® III and Pentium® IV#&151;are also examined.

About the Author
Avtar Singh is Professor of Electrical Engineering at San Jose State University. Earlier he taught at the City University of New York and the County College of Morris. Before coming to San Jose State University, he was with industry. He has worked for National semiconductor, Anderson Jacobson, and Vivix Corporation, all in the silicon-valley. At San Jose State, Dr. Singh is involved in teaching and research in the areas of DSP implementation, biomedical instrumentation, and programmable devices and processors. He has published a number of articles in his areas of interest. He has also co-authored nine textbooks on Microprocessors.

worst microprocessor book!

Now that I have completed my digital design course and using this required text at San Jose State University (home of the second author), I would like to comment on it.
There are more mistakes in this 3rd edition than in the 2nd edition. Because of the errors, I found it hard to learn for two reasons. Either I've made the mistake (granted the book is correct), or that the authors and editors failed to do their jobs so I have to seek outside help. Even the solutions in the back of the book has obvious errors! I don't believe learning from and paying [this kind of money] for this book is fair to any customer! SJSU students have used the 2nd and 3rd editions as REQUIRED text and paid dearly. (I don't believe that students should be FORCED to buy a book because it is written by a faculty member, especially one this bad! )
Suggestions and recommendations to the authors to correct blatant errors and make improvements were not implemented by the 3rd edition. How can a book create errors from one edition to another? Let me give one simple example. Figure 10-13 on page 470 has the input and output configurations for the 8255 reversed in the 3r edition BUT is correct in the 2nd edition. I also believe a spelling checker was not used as there are typos throughout the book.
Granted there are new materials in the latter part of the book, the older core part of the book should be error-free by the third edition. It has been an extreme headache to study from this book. It has been frustrating, to say the least. To those who wish to waste their money and time, please buy this book. There are other texts less costly and probably better written. The authors need to be more proactive in producing the best possible product when their reputation is on the byline!

Very Interesting and organized

I am taking this class at FDU (where Professor Triebel is teaching this class) and I find that its a very organized text.
there may be a few errors here and there, but it also helps to simply ask the Author for help regarding any possible errors.
Professor Triebel retired from Intel and has intimate knowledge of the 8088/8086 core (as well as the new Itanium) so he's more than qualified in this field.
We are also taking the lab to accompany this class (there's a separate lab manual) and that pretty much bridges the gap between theory and practical applications. The reason being that you can learn the theory behind the instructions in the lecture, but the lab allows you to see the instructions in action.

I have opened the book a total of 4 times. The binding already has a split and I am just waiting
for pages to start to separate.
Many of the illustrations are photos of earlier Intel publication. The print is washed out
and in some cases the font are of a very small size.
So far, we covered the first few chapters, and there seems to be much devoted to simple
opcodes as MOV, but not enough detail on the various adjustment opcodes.
The book has a good collection of study problems (homework).

SPIRITUAL WARFARE: WORLD VIEW AND EXEGESIS

This is not a great book, but it is helpful. C. Peter Wagner is not a biblical exegete nor a thelogian, so some of his work doesn't seem very solid or deep to his more serious readers. Here he takes steps to remedy this problem and to provide a biblical/theological framework for his views on spiritual warfare. The material is not on the same level as Clinton Arnold, but it would be unfair to expect this. I was at times inspired and informed by the book, and a number of passages started me on some serious expeditions of personal study. I would give this book a thumbs up to anyone who is interested in the subject.

An OK read

The Thief and the Princess is a short story. As such, I found it to be an OK read, but it didn't absolutely hook me. Speaking personally, I feel there wasn't enough time to fully develop the true love aspect within the frame of TTATP, and some plot points could have been expanded to feel better explained. On another note, the erotic degradation/humiliation in regards to the name-calling wasn't my favorite thing, but who knows, it might well be yours? I did like the father-daughter interaction, though brief, because it felt real to me. I give this short story three stars. It was OK.

Other Thoughts: Even though she's a modern day princess and carries around a cell phone, some old world concepts/devices are still utilised as part of the plot. I'd call it fusion more so, but it can be called fantasy too, I guess. So maybe it's a subset or subgenre sort of deal? Wow, now I'm thinking it would be great to expand this theme, explore this world better.
